Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
Edx Education is resolutely committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Our policies and practices are designed to ensure that no such practices are taking place anywhere within our business or our supply chains. This commitment is central to our values and reflects our obligation to comply with relevant legislation, including the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and Australia’s Modern Slavery Act 2018.
We conduct a thorough risk assessment across our entire supply chain. Our assessment of our Taiwan-based operations indicates a low risk of modern slavery due to:
- Government Oversight: Taiwan’s Tier 1 ranking by the US State Department reflects its robust legal framework and strict government oversight of labor and immigration laws.
- Supplier Relationships: We have cultivated long-term, trusted relationships with our Taiwanese factory suppliers. We believe these established partnerships provide a strong foundation of transparency and mutual respect.
Our commitment extends beyond initial assessments. We maintain a system of continuous monitoring and due diligence to ensure compliance.
- Supplier Code of Conduct: All new and existing suppliers are required to sign our Supplier Code of Conduct, which explicitly prohibits the use of forced, bonded, or compulsory labor.
- On-site Audits: Edx staff regularly visit our factory suppliers. These visits are not just for quality control but also for ethical audits, where we assess working conditions, employee welfare, and compliance with our anti-slavery standards.
- Modern Slavery Assessment: All subcontractors are required to sign a formal modern slavery assessment to verify their adherence to our ethical standards.
We believe that our employees are our most effective tool for preventing and detecting human trafficking.
- Training: Relevant employees, particularly those in procurement and supply chain management, receive training on recognizing the signs of modern slavery and how to report concerns.
- Speak-up Policy: Our company's Ethics Policy and formal reporting channels (such as our confidential ethics email: care@edxeducation.com) encourage employees to report any suspected wrongdoing without fear of retaliation.
In the event that a human slavery or trafficking issue is identified, our policy is to take immediate and decisive action. We will promptly investigate all reports and work with the supplier to implement a remediation plan. If a supplier fails to cooperate or the violation is severe, we will terminate our relationship immediately. We will not work with any factories or companies that are involved with human trafficking or slavery.
This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure its continued effectiveness in addressing the evolving risks of modern slavery and human trafficking across our global supply chain.
