Mobile Kindergarten
Edx Education has partnered with the Zhi-Shan Foundation to sponsor a mobile kindergarten to provide early childhood education for children in the remote Atayal tribe villages in Hsinchu County, Taiwan. The mobile kindergarten is named “Mountain Elf”, and its colourful design was created by the Atayal artist Mi Lu Hayong. The concept is “Sharing Love”.
The foundation supports elementary school and kindergarten students so they receive adequate education and care in indigenous communities. The villages are widely spread, meaning it is hard to find the best location for all the young children, so the mobile kindergarten was created.
With funding from Edx Education, they now not only bring educational toys and books with teachers and social workers, by they provide cultural courses, a toy library service, and also refer kids to early intervention services if needed, at more than 12 locations in the mountains near Hsinchu County. Gecko on the Move
Edx Education has partnered with Gecko On the Move to work with primary school teachers and children in remote parts of Asia and Africa. They provide training to teachers in math manipulatives to strengthen the teacher’s understanding and knowledge in teaching mathematics. After the initial training, they observe lessons, mentor teachers and provide feedback.
By supporting the project, we made a difference to a child’s life by providing them with the opportunity to be educated. Gecko On the Move’s vision is for children to connect, discover and create through mathematics using manipulatives. We fundraised to employ a local Tanzanian facilitator and teacher for an entire school year.
With the Kaixin Workshop, Edx Education has sponsored the renovations of a house turning it into an after school centre for the aboriginal children from the local primary school in a village north of Hualien.
It is one of their new pilot projects to provide more education opportunities for children around the world and especially in Taiwan. Read more about our involvement in the project.
Edx Education HQ in Taiwan participated in a local initiative, the Lohas Preschool (Orphanage) makeover project, located in Taoyuan city, Taiwan.
Edx Education sponsored the makeover including the redecoration of the orphanage, and also continue to donate products to help children learn though play and hands-on learning through maths manipulatives.
19 children and teenagers (ages 2 to 18) now live in the house of this orphanage. The concept is to let the children and teenagers feel more at home.
A very well known, lifestyle YouTuber in Taiwan filmed the makeover to celebrate with the children and teenagers. All profit from the video views will go to the orphanage.
Other Education for All projects have involved introducing some of our maths manipulatives to schools and the community centres in remote cities.
During the Education Days at Jingmei Elementary School and a nearby Preschool, and the Volunteer Days at community centres, we were impressed with the hospitality of the indigenous people.
And we really enjoyed experiencing their culture – and their singing performances too!
Beaches are beloved by so many people. You can swim, build sandcastles or simply enjoying the feel of sand between your toes.
Edx Education has been working with 黑潮海洋文教基金會 (Kuro Shio Ocean Foundation) to accomplish an International Coastal Clean-up.
We have collected cigarette waste, plastic bottles and even tires at the beach in Hualien, Taiwan. The seeds of raising awareness were planted in everyone who participated.
We encourage you to spend time enjoying the beaches with your family or friends on National Beach Day, and please remember to make them more enjoyable by keeping them a clean and safe place for everyone.
